Sometimes paper work can annoy you but that's how I got a name as soon as I landed on earth.
Dad had to claim insurance and the doctor's wanted a name for the baby.
Rathna ಅಜ್ಜಿ who was present there told dad that "SKANDA" is a beautiful name and it represents Lord Subramanya. Without any second thoughts Dad called Gopalakrishna ತಾತ , got his approval and for the records gave my name as "SKANDA RAVIKIRAN"
I know my name is unique and so am I. During the next few months people who visited me called me by different pet names and I'm sure to publish a post on all the funny names that my dad,mom,grand parents and uncle call me.
That solves the mystery of my name and what it stands for.
I wasn't even allowed entry into my mom's ward. I was directly shifted to the incubator (Only mom,Rathna ಅಜ್ಜಿ and Rani ಅಜ್ಜಿ had a glimpse of me).
After about two days they discharged mom and I had to stay back in the incubator. Mom would come at regular periods for my feeding.
This was probably the first tough phase where she to travel back & forth from home to hospital.
Doctor's neither revealed about my health condition to my parents nor did they discharge me. I would wait crying now & then to see mom and be in her arms.
Finally on the 21st day they did allow me to see direct sunlight and I was home. A happy moment for all.
Dad was proud of the moment he held me in his arms. It was bliss to be with my parents,grand parents and uncle :)
Thus ended 21 days of insanity - hurray !!!
Mom was all set and had decided to keep me in her womb for 40 weeks. She went for a test and a scan on 14th June 2007 at Sagar Appolo,Bangalore and the test results had nothing specific and was looking as per what doctors had expected.
"ALWAYS EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED" - that's exactly what happened on 16th June 2007 the saturday. Mom developed pain and when they rushed her to hospital, doctors told they had to operate.
Left with no choice Mom had to agree and thus Skanda arrives pretty early - Big surprise to all !
She even got a blue greeting card and a blue teddy bear soft toy as a gift from the hospital.
